"... an awesome book. Thank you." --Monica Warner, MS, RD, CDN. Research Coordinator and Director of Development, Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, Inc.
Carcinoid cancer is rare, with barely 8,000 cases reported in the U.S. annually. Because of its rarity and slow-growth, Carcinoid is often mis-diagnosed, and when diagnosed correctly, may be treated ineffectually.
This is the story of one person’s relentless battle with Carcinoid and of the author’s struggle to deal with the death of her beloved sister.
Inside, readers will find the words of some of the world’s top Carcinoid specialists, invaluable reference data, and a full list of top Carcinoid experts. It has been expanded and updated for 2012 and beyond.
Mary Girsch-Bock grew up in the Chicago area, and still considers it home. After careers in healthcare and property management, she is now a successful freelance writer, specializing in business and technology. Currently, she writes for "The CPA Technology Advisor."
Mary began researching Carcinoid tumors after her sister, Marge, was diagnosed with Carcinoid in 1995 and continues to do so today. Before her death, Marge conveyed her desire to have her story told. That desire spawned this book.
The author now lives with husband Shannon, son Jared, three birds, and a neurotic dog.
